The Palatine SeniorNet
Learning Center opened in April, 1995 through the sponsorship of the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council. It was established
to teach computer skills to older adults (50 or over)
in a understandable, enjoyable, and friendly way.
Since opening, over
class participants have taken advantage of our program. Taught by all
volunteers, we use PC compatible computers(with WindowsXP) and MS Word 2002 software for teaching Word Processing, and MS Works Suite 2003 for Spreadsheet and Database. In addition, America Online (AOL), Print Shop (graphics),Quicken (home accounting), Family Tree Maker (genealogy),
and the Internet are often included in our current session. "Just try keeping up with our Seniors!!"
We wish to extend a special thanks to our center sponsors to whom we are extremely grateful. They include: Allstate Insurance,
Ameritech Corporation, Citibank, Community Consolidated School District 15 (for our lab site),
IBM Corporation, Intel Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, Motorola Corporation, the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council, and Quaker Oats Co.
